Being a Modern Day Disciple

Colossians 3:23-24 NIV
23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
Discipleship vs. Being a Disciple
“Discipleship” refers to the process or practice of both growing as a disciple and helping others grow as well. It is an intentional pursuit of spiritual growth that encompasses learning, applying, and sharing Jesus’ teachings.
“Discipleship” involves a personal aspect (your own growth in faith) and a communal aspect (supporting and guiding others in their spiritual journey), reflecting its dual focus on individual transformation and relational mentoring.
“Being a disciple” means committing yourself to follow and learn from Jesus, which means actively shaping your life around His teachings, values, and example. A disciple seeks to grow in faith, deepen their relationship with God, and align their actions with the will of Christ. It’s a personal journey of transformation that involves learning, obedience, and becoming more like Jesus in character and purpose. “Being a Disciple” is more about who you are in relationship to a teacher or leader, like Jesus.
Discipleship before Jesus
Discipleship after Jesus
In John 15 Jesus ask his Disciples to CONTINUALLY REMAIN (Abide) IN HIM, so they could be fruitful as his Disciples.
